H/S Architects Wins Second Place in BBQ Challenge
March 30, 2009
The enthusiastic team from Holly and Smith Architects placed 2nd overall in the 6th annual Backyard Boogey portion of the Smokin’ Blues and BBQ Challenge, held March 27th and 28th in Hammond, La.
Over 60 local teams competed in the Backyard Boogey which gives locals and non professionals a chance to compete in the fun, yet challenging event. Holly and Smith placed 4th in ribs and 13th in chicken separately, and 2nd overall.
The BBQ event is the largest of its type in Louisiana for the 5th year in a row. Thousands turned out to join in on the fun and excitement.
The beneficiaries for the Hammond Blues & BBQ Challenge contest this year will be three wonderful local organizations that do amazing things for children and families in need. The organizations that will benefit from the profits of the 2009 event are: T.A.R.C., Tangi Food Pantry and Special Olympics Louisiana.
The team’s one of a kind pitt was recently featured in a video for Dirty Grills Gone Wild entitled Down and Dirty: A Tribute to the Homemade Smoker. Although not mentioned by name, the Holly and Smith grill is described as “just an old sugar kettle”.
