Jeffrey K. Smith gives lecture at University of Louisiana at Lafayette School of Architecture

Jeffrey K. Smith, Director of Design at H/S, was asked to give a lecture of the firm’s work to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette School of Architecture this April. Mr. Smith is an alum of ULL School of Architecture, Class of 1979 and is honored by this request to give a lecture 30 years after graduating.
The topic of his lecture was “Old Way of Seeing, with a New Vision”. Mr. Smith discussed the topic of traditional architectural design coveted by most of the population as it relates to the firm’s current design philosophy of regional modernism. The lecture highlighted H/S design work over the past years in reference to historical context in Southeast Louisiana, historical preservation and adaptive reuse and examples of regional modernism and current works on the boards.
The lecture took place at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, School of Architecture, Fletcher Hall lecture room, on April 8, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
