A childhood spent assembling cabins from Lincoln Logs and villages from Lego building blocks primed David Hoover for his career in architecture.

Back then, the limitations inherent to the toy’s simple designs only encouraged his imagination and pushed him to come up with creative solutions for his finished product. Today, the parameters of each client’s individualized building program, site considerations and the surrounding context similarity fuel his creative vigor.

David is a student of Aikido and Budo, and enjoys travelling, photography and art. He has an interest in urban design and its relationship with the individual, which is why he is a member of the Congress for the New Urbanism. He has earned degrees in environmental design from Texas A&M University in 1994 and in architecture from Louisiana State University in 1999.

David started his career in construction, which aided his technical abilities in detailing and created a strong foundation for his professional career in architecture. He has completed an assortment of project types around the United States, and his projects have received notable awards and recognition. He joined the Holly & Smith team in 2006, and looks forward to complementing the already established firm with his abilities.
