Monroe Hall Renovations and Additions

The renovation and addition to the existing Monroe Hall at Loyola University New Orleans includes the removal of the existing exterior building facade and the placement of a new exterior building facade consisting of a terra cotta panel system, zinc metal wall panels, aluminum curtainwall, aluminum storefront, stucco plaster, and solar shading elements. The existing building currently consists of 5 academic classroom floors, with an amphitheater lecture hall (Nunemaker Hall) located on the second and third levels, and a basement level. The new construction will include new structural steel framed sixth, seventh, and eighth floor with concrete filled metal deck floors for academic classrooms, new mechanical penthouse, roof level greenhouse, roof plaza pavers and green roof at the sixth floor level, three new ‘bustles’ including new prefabricated steel stair units, with the main entry bustle opening up to Monroe Court, a bustle on the south end of the building, and a bustle on the North end of the building, a new ‘connector’ bridge between Monroe Hall and the Communications/Music building on the building’s southwest corner, replacement of existing building elevators, both passenger and freight, the addition of two new elevators, new service yard, sculpture court, and service drop on the first floor level, and the gutting, reconfiguration and new interior build out for the academic functions of the building. The Work shall include a new automatic sprinkler system and fire alarm system for the building. Existing underground utilities will need to be reIocated in conjunction with foundation work for the new ‘bustles’. Foundation work will include the driving of pre-stressed concrete piles and timber piles. Portions of the building shall be occupied while the Work is accomplished. The contractor’s work shall be completed in phases.
