A growing community needed a new elementary school and upper elementary school for 1,000 students. Each school required totally separate facilities, except the kitchen and a dividable multi purpose room. A radius main street corridor connects all the classroom wings, administration area, the multi-purpose room and the lunchroom/ kitchen. The radius plan focuses the three distinct entries on the east side and spreads open the classroom wings. The multi-purpose room, toilet rooms, counselor’s offices, lunchroom and kitchen are centrally located between the elementary schools. Bright colors and playful patterns of low cost interior finish materials were used to enliven the interior spaces.
